Junior Software Engineer

Full Time | United States | Remote

About the Job

I'm working with a funded, fast-growing medical device startup that's looking to add a Junior .NET Software Engineer to their team. This company is building technology that improves patient outcomes and makes life easier for the clinicians and care teams who rely on their products. As they scale, they need someone who's excited to write real production code from day one while also helping their clients get the most out of the platform.

I'm looking for someone early in their career who wants to grow their technical skills on meaningful healthcare technology while also developing strong client-facing communication skills through direct customer support work. This is a great opportunity for the right person to join a small, high-impact engineering team.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C# and the .NET framework/.NET Core

  • Contribute to features across the core product, working closely with senior engineers, QA, and product teams

  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following established coding standards and best practices

  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups as part of an Agile development process

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects in existing applications

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for client tech support tickets — diagnosing issues, communicating clearly with non-technical users, and escalating complex bugs to the broader engineering team

  • Document recurring support issues and feed insights back to the product team to help prioritize fixes and improvements

  • Assist with database queries and light schema work (SQL Server or similar)

  • Stay current with relevant technologies, tools, and best practices in software development and healthcare/medical device compliance

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience (personal projects, internships, or bootcamp work welcome)

  • 0–2 years of professional experience with C# and .NET (internships and academic projects count)

  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns

  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases

  • Exposure to front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or frameworks like Blazor, Angular, or React is a plus

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a genuine curiosity about how things work under the hood

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — you'll be talking directly with clients, sometimes about issues that affect their day-to-day work

  • Patience and empathy when supporting non-technical users through technical problems

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while staying closely connected with a distributed team

  • Willingness and ability to travel quarterly for in-person collaboration with Engineering Leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework, internship, or project experience touching healthcare technology, HIPAA, or regulated software environments

  • Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, or cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

  • Prior customer support, help desk, or client-facing experience

Why This Role

  • Real ownership and impact at a growing startup — your code and your client relationships will directly shape the product and the company's reputation

  • Mentorship from experienced engineers who are invested in your growth

  • Remote-first flexibility with periodic in-person time to build relationships and align on strategy

  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits

  • The chance to build technology that genuinely improves patient care
